Central Wisconsin Airport
Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA) finished construction of the terminal and parking lot late last year. The aim was to open up space within the terminal for passenger traffic and create an easy to use parking lot. Now it's time for CWA to remove the tape, reveal the finished project, and look forward to the future. The project began with the extension of the parking lot and a brand new car rental facility. The airport terminal now offers a brand new security checkpoint, baggage claim area, space for taxi services, and improved ticket counters. The entire project finished with the parking lot reconstruction, new revenue control machines, and canopies to shield drivers from the Wisconsin weather. Landscaping will be completed in the spring of 2016. CWA has plans to celebrate the end of the airport reconstruction with a grand reopening, to be held on June 9, 2016, with a ribbon cutting, dedication ceremony, airport tours, and more. The medium, non-hub airport has much to be thankful for this New Year as they remain successful within the competitive airport industry. CWA offers comparable prices and proves to be a sustainable economic asset to the local region. CWA offcials meet regularly with airlines to adjust schedules and improve performance. American Airlines recently added a third permanent flight to their schedule. This new flight was added to meet the needs of passengers looking to fly back into the Wausau-Stevens Point area.
